How to Play Daily Connections
Daily Connections is a free daily puzzle inspired by word-grouping games like NYT Connections. Every puzzle gives you 16 items and asks you to find the 4 hidden groups that connect them.
The Basics
The board shows 16 items — Pokémon, One Piece characters, or countries, depending on the niche you pick. Four of them share a hidden category, another four share a different one, and so on: four groups in total.
Select four items you believe belong together, then press Submit. If they match, the group is revealed along with its name and color. If they don't, you lose one life. You have 4 lives per puzzle — lose them all, and the puzzle ends. Solve all 4 groups to win.
Niches
Daily Connections isn't a single generic game — each niche has its own daily puzzle, built around what fans of that topic actually know:
- Pokémon — groups built around types, evolution lines, generations, egg groups, fossils, legendaries, and more unexpected connections.
- One Piece — groups built around crews, Devil Fruits, arcs, bounties, and character relationships.
- Countries — groups built around geography, capitals, flags, languages, and regional trivia.
A new puzzle for each niche is published every day.
Difficulty: Normal and Hard
- Normal — more intuitive groupings, good for casual play or if you're new to the niche.
- Hard — trickier, less obvious connections that reward deeper knowledge of the topic.
The categories that appear change with difficulty — Hard doesn't just make the same puzzle harder, it draws from a different, less obvious pool of connections.
Why It's Tricky
An item can often look like it obviously belongs to one group when it's actually there for a completely different reason. That ambiguity is the whole point — the puzzle is designed to make you second-guess the "obvious" answer.
